Difficulties with Valentine’s Day

Single this Valentine’s Day? Recently grieving a breakup? In a relationship where you find yourself particularly unsatisfied? Got the bad case of Valentine’s Day Blues?

You may find that today is especially difficult for you! Please allow yourself the time to feel down, without any pressure to be ‘fine,’ and recognize that your life is not defined by a solitary day in the Hallmark calendar. Valentine’s Day buys into so many people's fears of being alone, or rather, that we believe we need to be in the perfect relationship. Here are some ideas to challenge the negative feelings that may be brought to the surface on Valentine’s Day:

  • Remind yourself that your relationship status does not define your self-worth!

  • Take the time to refocus your energy on yourself.

  • Find things that make you feel at peace and fill your cup (dancing, cooking, gardening, catching up with friends).

  • Love is all around, and abundant. You are capable of creating love as well! Perhaps today is the perfect day to zoom with a bunch of friends, take time to do something you haven’t been able to do, or send love notes to all of the people who have made a real difference in your life.

  • At the end of the day… or this post, know that today will pass, and there
